With the Olympics heading to our shores next year, there’s been much talk about the opening ceremony and whether the UK can outshine the spectacular show delivered by Beijing in 2008.
This week Electronic duo Underworld, who are perhaps most commercially famous for their track ‘Born Slippy’ from the 1996 film ‘Trainspotting’, were announced as Musical Directors for the opening ceremony.

Waen Shepherd
Launched by Spectrasonics in May this year, the Moog Foundation contest invited Omnisphere users to purchase a special Bob Moog Tribute Library containing over 700 sounds created by well known composers and sound designers. Entrants had to submit a track created using the sounds in a bid to win the OMG-1 a custom built instrument combining a Moog Little Phatty, Omnisphere, Mac Mini, dual iPads, dual iPods and Omni TR.
On September 15th, Spectrasonics announced the winners of the contest and were so impressed with the level of entries they picked an additional three major winners. One of those lucky three was Waen Shepherd from the UK so we caught up with him to find out how he did it…

Irish composer Emmett Cooke writes minimal music, in particular, minimal piano music which has been used in many different projects from Spanish TV shows to Ralph Lauren adverts. His website sonicoctave.com showcases numerous tracks which can be licensed for film, tv or video game soundtracks and he is also responsible for filmandgamecomposers.com – an online resource for media composers which features interviews, advice, tutorials and a discussion forum.
Emmett is a customer of Time+Space and, with so many interesting projects on the go, we couldn’t resist getting in touch to find out more…

Here at Time+Space we want to know more about how you’re using our virtual instruments and sample libraries and we’re sure many of our customers would be interested too.
So, we’re launching a new Q&A feature for the T+S blog where we give you the chance to showcase your music and tell us about the tools you use to make it.
We’ll choose one interview each week to post to our blog, we’ll also give it a mention on our Facebook and Twitter pages and we may include it in our weekly e-newsletter. What’s more, each author of a published Q&A will win a sample library!

After much hype as with every update of the Mac OS X operating system, version 10.7 or Lion as it is called has been released. Lion contains 250 new features including Full Screen mode, Mission Control, Launch Pad, Resume, AutoSave, an integrated Mac App Store, built in Email, and Airdrop.
The big question is will my audio software still work if I upgrade to Lion and the answer in the most part is yes. Most of our software has been tested using the developer version of Lion which has been available for some time now. No problems have been reported so as long as you have installed the latest version of your plug-in(s) you should be fine.
We’d like to know how you get on Lion – please get in touch if you have any issues, we’d be happy to help.

Here at Time+Space we’ve been really getting into Zero-G’s recent sample library release – House Fabrik, which is packed full of stunning drumloops, infectious bass and synth loops, atmospheres, melodies and FX as well as hundreds of unique one-shots, stabs and hits.
In fact, we’ve liked it so much that two of our staff have already produced some tracks using the product.

Michelle-Moog-Koussa
Last week saw the announcement of the OMG-1/Bob Moog Foundation contest from Spectrasonics. Entrants are invited to purchase and download a special Tribute library designed to work with Omnisphere and create a track to submit to the contest. The prize is the OMG-1 – a custom built one-of-a kind instrument featuring a Moog Little Phatty, Omnisphere, Mac Mini, dual iPads, dual iPods and Omni TR all built into a beautiful, hand-crafted curly maple cabinet.
Last week we posted an interview with Daniel James, one of the sound designers who contributed to the library. This week, we’re finding out about the Bob Moog Foundation, how they became involved with Spectrasonics, and how the Tribute Library will be benefitting the Foundation. We spoke to Bob Moog’s daughter and Executive Director of the Foundation, Michelle Moog-Koussa to get the lowdown…
