ProjectSAM Orchestral Essentials – is this another masterclass in cinematic sampling?

ProjectSAM Orchestral EssentialsProjectSAM have wowed the sound design world with their sample libraries for almost 10 years now. Starting with SAM Horns, the ProjectSAM range has blossomed and expanded to include an awesome arsenal of sonic orchestral firepower which is a force to be reckoned with. The award winning Symphobia, perhaps the most famous of the ProjectSAM products, gives composers instant access to epic modern ‘hollywood’ strings to rival any other library on the market.

Now, due for release in December 2011, comes their Orchestral Essentials library. Billed as “The essence of film scoring”, Orchestral Essentials takes from existing ProjectSAM libraries and creates a less expensive collection, making the complete ProjectSAM orchestra more affordable to a wider range of potential users. There are also a few instruments that can’t be found in any other ProjectSAM product, including grand piano and harpsichord patches.

ProjectSAM have posted a few movies to give us a sneak preview of Orchestral Essentials, check them out below and see what you think…

I've been lucky enough to be involved in developing, testing, manufacturing, marketing and selling sample libraries and virtual instruments for over 10 years. During this time I've seen a lot of great new software being released, some of it changing how computer based music is produced. It's this creativity and innovation which makes this industry very exciting and truly inspirational.
