We take a look at Punch, the new virtual drum synth from Rob Papen

Punch 3D Interface

Officially announced at NAMM 2011, Punch is a virtual drum synthesizer which is the first foray into percussive based instruments from Dutch sofware developer Rob Papen. With a rich arsenal of software synths already in the Rob Papen product line, Punch will complement the likes of SubBoomBass and Predator to give producers and complete set of virtual instruments to create with.

Punch allows the user to combine synthesis and sampling to create brand new sounds in a quick and easy way that is typical of Rob Papen software – there is even a control called ‘Punch’ so tweaking is really nice and simple. That’s enough talk, take a look at our video and see what all the fuss is about…

I've been lucky enough to be involved in developing, testing, manufacturing, marketing and selling sample libraries and virtual instruments for over 10 years. During this time I've seen a lot of great new software being released, some of it changing how computer based music is produced. It's this creativity and innovation which makes this industry very exciting and truly inspirational.

    1. The version of Punch we have only has a small number of presets as the product is very much still in development. However, the ones we have heard are pretty special and the quality is amazing – you will not be dissapointed!
