Rob Papen originally released Blue back in August 2008 and it almost instantly gained a reputation for being a very powerful instrument adding a whole new dimension to the RP range of software synths. As with other Papen products, users were dazzled by the quality of presets which Blue had to offer and it quickly became a hit.

The most significant change in this 1.9 update is the implementation of a new copy protection system as Steinberg’s ‘e-Licenser’ is no longer being used by Rob Papen. This new system simply uses a serial number and takes away the need for the user to have the ‘License Control Centre’ installed which many will see as a positive move.

Another key part of version 1.9 is some great new presets, some lovingly crafted by Rob Papen himself and there is also an additional bank from Dr. Tim Waters. Here is a video of Mr Papen at work…

I've been lucky enough to be involved in developing, testing, manufacturing, marketing and selling sample libraries and virtual instruments for over 10 years. During this time I've seen a lot of great new software being released, some of it changing how computer based music is produced. It's this creativity and innovation which makes this industry very exciting and truly inspirational.
