Located in the old downtown of Ghent in Belgium, the Play & Produce took place on Saturday inside of the historical Vooruit building, a beautiful and unusual place for a DJ and producer show. When we heard about this unique event we did not miss the opportunity to show off our products, with the added pleasure of legendary sound designer Rob Papen joining us for the day.
This is the second Play & Produce show and it already attracts a number of electronic & hip hop DJs and producers from right across Belgium, Holland and Luxemburg. This year, the 1100 available tickets sold out very quickly, with 700 pre-sales. With more exhibitors this year, more workshops and more attractions from across the music industry, it would seem that Play & Produce is here to stay.
The Time+Space stand was swamped with a mixture of DJs, Producers and many who just wanted to find out more about making music . We used Ableton Live to show how our sample libraries and virtual instruments can be used in a real world context. In addition to this, Rob Papen also presented a sound design workshop in the main area to around 400 people which over-ran by an entire hour.
So, we were very happy to see that the electronic music scene in Belgium is very much alive and well and it was great to meet so many interesting people making music, bring on next year!
